Chicago M.A.T.

Female graduate student focuses during class.

A Relay master’s degree signifies more than a theoretical understanding of education. Our M.A.T. program focuses on techniques that make the deepest impact in urban classrooms, with unmatched opportunities for practice.

The M.A.T. experience combines a rigorous, purposeful curriculum with instruction from outstanding educational faculty. It focuses on concrete skills that lead to significant improvements in urban classrooms, and it allows our students to practice those skills until they can execute them with confidence. M.A.T. candidates develop pedagogical expertise in specific grade levels and content areas, including elementary, secondary, middle grades, and special education.

Throughout the program, M.A.T. candidates learn from faculty who have helped their own P-12 students reach extraordinary success in urban schools. Our faculty's focus on practice, observation and feedback gives our graduate students the tools they need to make a measurable, positive impact on P-12 academic performance and character development.
