Expand your impact by expanding your skills. The Advanced Certificate in Special Education program equips experienced teachers with the tools they need to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.

The Advanced Certificate in Special Education program is a one-year intensive for experienced New Jersey state teachers who already hold a New Jersey Standard Teaching License. We have designed the program for experienced general educators who have a record of accomplishment, hold themselves accountable for the performance of all of their students, and are eager to broaden their skills.

Upon completion of the program, teachers will be qualified to either expand their impact in the general education classroom or pursue the range of roles available to certified special educators.

The program equips teachers with the skills and mindsets they need to support a wide range of exceptional learners. The curriculum will provide a foundation in all disabilities, but teachers will develop specific expertise in learning disabilities and high-incidence behavioral needs.
