Tuition & Aid

Tuition for a two-year Relay M.A.T. degree is $35,000. Relay is committed to ensuring that our programs are affordable for teachers, especially those teaching in high-needs schools. The Relay Teaching Residency is an AmeriCorps program. All Residents are expected to apply for AmeriCorps regardless of prior AmeriCorps service. The cost to residents who submit AmeriCorps paperwork will not exceed $6,500 over two years.

Payment plans are available for all students. Please contact Student Financial Services for further details about tuition. Make sure to indicate your region and academic program when contacting Student Financial Services.

Schedule Info

Relay Teaching Residents work full time in Relay partner schools — first as teachers-in-residence and ultimately as lead teachers — to ensure that they are practicing the techniques and strategies they are learning. Relay’s academic calendar and program structure are conducive to and designed to support the demanding schedules of full-time educators and part-time graduate students. We deliver about 40 percent of the program content online so that residents have the flexibility to complete coursework when it is most convenient for their schedules.

In addition to online coursework, residents will attend regular in-person sessions, including:

  • A one-week summer session at the start of the program;
  • A weekly Deliberate Practice session with Relay faculty in which residents get additional practice with the core techniques they learn in the program;
  • Two weeknight sessions each month for core instruction;
  • One Saturday session each month for subject-specific instruction; and
  • A one-week summer session in between the first and second years of the program.

The Teaching Residency program has three terms each year (summer, fall, and spring). The summer term runs approximately from late July through the end of August; the fall term runs approximately from September to January; and the spring term runs approximately from February to June.
