Connecting Relay’s Alumni Community
Relay Connect launched in March for the nearly 1,800 graduates in the Relay alumni community. The portal offers an opportunity for alumni of Relay and Teacher U (Relay’s predecessor) to connect with each other and to engage with a number of different tools to make them more effective educators and professionals. Through Relay Connect, alumni are now able to post and search for jobs, plan and attend events, provide updates and resources to each other, and more.
The platform also creates a space for alumni to meaningfully connect with Relay through weekly updates about what’s happening at the institution, sent exclusively to alumni. Relay Connect has been designed to be a “one-stop shop” for current and future alumni as they continue to grow in their careers post-graduation.
“The relationship we have with our students doesn’t stop when they graduate,” says Director of Alumni Affairs Alia McCants. “With the launch of Relay Connect, we’ve created the space to continue those relationships – and to activate mentoring and development within our alumni community itself. It’s powerful.”
Since 2010, Relay has graduated educators at all different stages in their careers – from first-time teachers to seasoned school leaders, and nearly every point in between. With Relay Connect, the veteran teacher in New Orleans can share resources with a rookie teacher in New York; the school leader in Pueblo, Colorado, can offer feedback on a coaching conversation to his classmate in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Eventually, the platform will include faculty, staff, and students to foster even more knowledge sharing among current and former Relay community members.
“I think it’s going to be a game-changer,” says McCants. “At the end of the day, a more connected alumni community means more effective educators for our kids.”
