Monitoring Independent Practice focuses on monitoring student work in real-time to provide in-the-moment feedback to students. In this session, teachers establish a vision for academic monitoring and build a process for intentionally checking for understanding during independent work time. Teachers will sharpen their skill in providing high-leverage, supportive instructional feedback to deepen student learning.

Participants will be able to...

  • Practice announcing what they're looking for as they are making laps around the classroom using a defined criteria for success
  • Practice giving real-time feedback to students during independent practice using the affirm, focus, prompt framework
