Relay Houston Recognized for Local Impact

Relay Graduate School of Education’s Houston campus was recently announced as the winner of the Challenger Award by Houston A+ Challenge for its work preparing teachers through innovative programs. The Challenge Awards, hosted annually by Houston A+, honors the organizations, projects, and people who have made a positive impact on education in the Bayou City.

Relay Houston launched in 2014, offering the Relay M.A.T. and Teaching Residency programs with an initial cohort of 60 teachers. This year, 150 teachers and teaching residents from 54  public and private school across 13 Houston area districts and charter networks are enrolled in Relay programs, including a new Early Childhood Education master’s track. Relay Houston is led by Senior Dean Chris Fraser, a former Houston teacher and Relay professor.

“We’re honored to receive the Challenger Award, and look forward to partnering with Houston A+ in the future to ensure that all students in Houston have access to high quality education and great teachers,” Fraser said. Relay will receive the award at The Challenge Awards ceremony in April.
