Student-Centered Leadership Intensive

A 4-day learning experience for school and system leaders to strengthen Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) implementation and drive schoolwide impact through instructional leadership. Leaders will strengthen the necessary skills and strategies to lead effective instructional systems and ensure every student thrives.

Program Participants

The Student-Centered Leadership Intensive by PLDIS is designed for leaders with oversight and decision-making authority over MTSS. This experience builds the skills and strategies needed to create instructional systems where all students thrive. Participants include principals, assistant principals, special education leaders, principal supervisors, and system-level instructional leaders across K–12 settings.

Program Focus

The Student-Centered Leadership Intensive, part of our Professional Learning for Differentiated Instruction and Support (PLDIS) suite, is a 4-day learning experience that offers an initial dive into the prerequisite conditions and Tier 1 structures of a strong Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Participants leave with a 90-day strategic implementation plan focused on one of the key levers for improvement.

  • MTSS-Aligned Systems: Building leadership capacity to design and manage systems that support data-driven interventions and aligned schoolwide practices.
  • Tier 1 Academic Instruction: Strengthening leader ability to support instructional planning, implementation, and feedback that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Tier 1 Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Equipping leaders to assess and improve schoolwide SEL practices that promote student well-being and positive behavior.
  • Strategic Planning and Implementation: Supporting leaders to develop and execute focused action plans that drive measurable progress on instructional or culture priorities.

Program Experience

Leaders will learn alongside their colleagues from across the country and leave with a 90-day strategic implementation plan for one of the key levers.

Participants will benefit from:

  • Expert faculty: Learn from experienced practitioners who have demonstrated effectiveness in the field.
  • A network of peers: Join a national network of instructional leaders who support each other through implementation of their Relay learning and problem-solve critical challenges.

Optional: Strategic Consulting

School districts can deepen their leaders’ learning and help them turn insights into action at their school or district with additional support from a PLDIS-trained leadership coach. This service includes:

  • Virtual coaching of 8, 20, or 40 hours to support real-time problem-solving and sustained implementation of MTSS-aligned practices.
  • Optional add-on of an in-person site visit to collaboratively observe differentiated instruction and supports followed by team debrief and strategic planning session for recommended next steps.
