The Relay Connecticut Approach

Since Relay Connecticut opened its doors in 2016, we have supported the development of over 250 highly effective educators. Our campus prioritizes building positive relationships with all stakeholders, including graduate students, resident advisors, school administrators and district representatives. Elementary education is the most popular program, and we are proud of our alumni Facebook page, which alums use to share experiences, teaching materials, job opportunities, and other resources.

Professor Challa Flemming is entering her 6th year as an Assistant Professor of Practice at Relay Connecticut. She has close to 20 years of experience in education, serving as a teacher, instructional coach, school administrator and professor. She earned a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Mercy College, a Higher Education Teaching certificate from Harvard GSE and anticipates earning an EdD in May 2023. Professor Flemming is passionate about culturally responsive and inclusive teaching, antiracism and has expertise in Elementary methods. She is a native of Connecticut and enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and creating beautiful jewelry.

Our partner, TEACH Connecticut, is a program that provides free support to anyone who is thinking about becoming a teacher. When you sign up, you get benefits like 1-on-1 coaching, up to $100 back in fee reimbursements (including certification exam costs) and a chance to win a regional $1,000 scholarship.

To receive the application fee reimbursement, you have to create a TEACH Connecticut account here before you apply to Relay. Once you have subscribed to TEACH Connecticut and applied to Relay, you can submit your application fee reimbursement here and apply for the TEACH Connecticut scholarship here.
