Sparking Rigorous Engagement

Rigorous instruction prepares students to take on the cognitive lift in lessons so that they learn to think deeply. Through strategies like annotating, comparing, diagramming, predicting, presenting, testing, and more, combined with meaningful learning tasks, students become authentically engaged in lessons. To ensure students are doing the heavy lifting, teachers have to create these opportunities.
