Description
Checking for understanding ensures that educators can adapt their teaching to meet individual student needs. This series focuses on practical techniques to gauge, assess, and respond to their students' learning effectively. These techniques include checking whole group understanding, monitoring independent practice, and analyzing student work. By the end of this series, educators are equipped with the knowledge and skills to assess student understanding in real time and upon deliberate review of student work during planning periods.
Learning Objectives
Create and analyze exemplars to determine what students need to know and be able to do to successfully master grade-level standards
Plan and implement techniques to check for whole group understanding
Monitor student work during independent practice to provide in-the-moment feedback to students
